Felt Flip Gift Card Holder

Felt Flip Gift Card Holder

I got this idea originally from The Angel Company in the Serendipity catalog. It was the Felt Flip Album, using embossed felt (can be found at any major craft store in your area. If you have trouble finding it, let me know!). Embossed felt is really beautiful. There is an embossed design on one side of the felt. As I was making the album I decided to alter it a bit and use it for a gift card holder for a friend's birthday, instead of using it as an album.

Now the directions: For the felt I used a 9 x 12 piece of embossed felt which I found online in many very vibrant colors. I used a magenta pink for this one. You can make 2 of these with one sheet of felt. Cut the felt to 12 x 4-1/2. I used a small piece of velcro to hold it closed but you could use a magentic strip or eyelets and use a ribbon, it's up to you. You want to cut 3 pieces of the black cardstock 4-1/4 x 3" and adhere those pieces to the felt leaving a 1" as a folded tab offf of the edge of the felt on one side.

Take your favorite patterned paper to make the the half moon pockets which can will hold a tag which you can use to put a special message on or a picture. I used paper from the Uptown Girl paper collection. To make the half moon pocket you want to cut the piece of paper 8 x 3 and fold that in half which will make it 4 x 3. Then use your favorite adhesive to the very edge of the paper so you have room to slide in your tag. I used my circle punch to make the cut out in the pocket. You adhere the half moon pockets to the 1" black cardstock tabs.

Then make the tag that goes inside the half moon pocket. Cut the matching cardstock 4 x 2-3/4. I punch a small hole in the top with my Big Bite and tied a piece of black/white ribbon on top of the tag. I stamped the beautiful bird images from Beautiful Day on the 2 outside pocket tags. Then for the center pocket I stamped the saying from the same stamp set on a piece of Uptown Girl paper collection. which was layered on the black and layered on the pocket. I attached a beetle black paper posie to the corner. I will insert a gift card in this pocket. And that's it!

Awesome job Ellie! My friend Shirley gave me a 'kit' to make one of these, but I haven't had the time and cleared desk space to try it yet! Yours is wonderful, and I hope mine turns out as well!
