I made these fun matchbook cards for my trades at the TAC Seminar.
For the matchbook cards themselves I cut a piece of cardstock 9-1/2 x 3. I used the Scor-Pal to score at the 4 inch mark and at the 8-1/2 mark. Fold on your score marks. The card folds into a matchbook so the top flap tucks under the flap.
I have used this type of card to hold a teabag as a little gift to send to a friend. You could insert a gift card or any other little treasure you can think of!
For the design on the outside of the matchbook card, I used inchies, something I've been wanting to try. Inchies are basically 1-inch squares which you decorate and then you can attach to cards. Think of it as a very small art canvas! I chose to do monochoromic layouts by using 2-3 different shades of the color green for example. I cut my squares of different shades of green and sponged around the edges with a darker green Brilliance ink using a cut up sponge.
I stamped different images with different colored inks on the squares. Here I stamped the small bird from the Beautiful Day stamp set found in the Spring Serendipity in black ink.
Using inchies is a fun way to make some interesting collages using different colors of cardstock with different stamped images in different colors of inks. The possiblities are endless! I added a silver metal loop and stamped a saying beneath the inchies. On the flap of the matchbook card I added a matching button.
If you have any questions about how I made these cards or about inchies, drop me an email!
