Packing Tape Transfer Technique

I'm a member of an ATC (artist trading card) swap group and each month we try a different technique and swap our cards. This is my first month with the group and the technique was the Packing Tape Transfer technique which I had never heard of before but I'm always up for a stamping challenge!

Basically it's an image transfer technique. First of all you need some packing tape, I just used the cheap packing tape I use for mailing packages. For the image, you can use newspaper articles, glossy magazine photos, clip art, your own photos (copied), etc. I used flower images I have from an old gardening book I have and don't use. I cut the images out that I liked. You want the image to be larger than the packing tape. So cut your packing tape, cut out the image and place your image right on the packing tape. Use a bone folder to press down on the image to make sure it is adhered very well onto the packing tape. Then have a glass of warm water handy and place your image right into the water for about 10 minutes. After it has soaked take it out and dry it off, I used a microfiber towel I always keep in my stamp space.

Then separate the image from the tape. You will need to rub off as much of the paper image from the tape which will give you that transparency look. Pat it dry and let dry and you will see how it looks like a mini piece of transparency. Then I layered my flower images on black cardstock and then on matching colored cardstock and stamped in black my favorite saying underneat, from the Beautiful Day stamp set. It's a really neat effect!
Once I get the swapped cards back I will post what others have done with this technique. I'm excited to see what others have done!
Have you created an inspiring piece of art with your stamps from The Angel Company? If you have, you could win a $10 TAC Gift Certificate! Click here for more details on my Monthly TAC Creation Contest!

Very cool! I think I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby and get some card stock and start creating some cards! I'd like to do some really cool ones for my sister's and cousin's weddings coming up!
